Day 3 in Melbourne was cool and rainy so we finally got organized with some school work and ran a few errands around our friends' house in Hawthorne.
I'm really enjoying the Aussies and their senses of humour. They're not afraid to say it like it is - and they're also not afraid to make fun of you. Makes me feel right at home. In one shop I said to Toby, 'can you pay for this please' as I put a game on the counter and immediately the shop owner cracked, 'Yeah, mate, you don't think you're here for your good looks, do ya?'
I look forward to more of that.
We also bought a keyboard for the camper van so the girls can keep up with their piano on our travels. We're finding the cost of things pretty high in Australia - clearly things have a long way to come to get here.
Friday was also a somber day as it was the day that a car ploughed into a pedestrian mall in the centre of town and killed five people and injured many more. It was a tragic event - and made all the more scary by the fact that we had been in that exact place only one day previously. A very sad day.
Glad to see that you are having fun but especially that you are safe. Enjoy!
