Port Fairy cont'd

We had three nights in Port Fairy thanks to the van breakdown and replacement (I’m telling you – it was the best thing that could have happened, our van breaking down! Our new van is SO much better) and it was a great place to be stuck. We loved the beaches, the great town centre and the quirky nature of some of its shops and cafes.
The girls and I walked to the Port Fairy market on Saturday morning (very sweet with lots of local tradespeople. We bought some delicious raspberry cordial that tastes of real raspberries) and on the way home we stumbled on this fabulous used bookstore/art space. We could have lost ourselves for hours in it. (I also wish we could have bought the Mad Hatter chair for us – it was so special.)
The art exhibition was really clever - the artist is inspired by passages from books and draws the illustrations right on the books. The artist is part of a collective called 'Urban Sketchers' - I want Indie to join! This is the blurb from their website: Urban Sketchers is a network of artists around the world who draw the cities where they live and travel to. Our mission is to "Show the World, One Drawing at a Time." How cool is that? Check it out.

Anna loved this poem - a girl after my own heart
The Mad Hatter chair - it was perfect, right down to the Alice in Wonderland buttons on the back

The reading nook - no wonder we wanted to stay

Great sculpture in the entry

The art on display - what a great combination of art and books

More great illustrations
