Seals by Sea

Part of the prompt to return to Cape Bridgewater was to go on a boat trip to see the seals up close. It was called ‘Seals by Sea’ -  a small operation run by a single fella – Vinnie – and there were just 10 of us in a small zodiac. It was fantastic – an hour of watching the seals up close as they sun-bathed, swam, dove, wrestled and generally did their seal thing. We mainly saw Australian fur seals. It was exhilarating to watch them surf in the big waves around the rocks. The seal pups were still pretty small (many born in Jan & Feb), so it was fun to see the young ones who were particularly curious and inquisitive about the boat (and the cameras in the water). It was a terrific wildlife encounter.
